Check on hazard conditions via this web site for the specific beach area you thinking of visiting. Check with lifeguards at the beach area. Look for any warning signs posted at the beach area you are visiting. Avoid walking on beaches or rock ledge areas that are wet this indicates that waves are washing over these areas.

Description

A High Surf Warning is issued when waves reach threshold criteria for a particular island and shoreline. High Surf Warnings may be issued up to 24 hours ahead of the arrival of the swell and may remain in effect for several days.

Icon

A sign with bold, red lettering at the top that says "Warning". Iconography depicts large waves near shore and has text underneath it that says: "High surf can cause serious injuries or drowning. When in doubt, don't go out."
