Effective: Wednesday, January 15, 2020 - 3:43am to Thursday, January 16, 2020 - 6:00am

Alert:
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI MAUI AND THE BIG ISLAND...

.Rough surf will continue along east facing shores through tonight, then gradually trend down Thursday through Friday.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Surf of 7 to 10 feet today, lowering to 5 to 8 feet tonight.

* WHERE...East facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Big Island.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM HST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Moderate. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Notes (optional):

A High Surf Advisory is issued when waves reach threshold criteria for a particular island and shoreline.

Instruction:
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
